ESI EDUGYAN’S WASHINGTON BLACK SHORTLISTED FOR THE SCOTIABANK GILLER PRIZE

HarperCollins Canada is pleased to announce that Esi Edugyan’s instant national bestselling novel, Washington Black has been shortlisted for the 2018 Scotiabank Giller Prize. Washington Black is also a finalist for the 2018 Man Booker Prize, the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize, and has received widespread acclaim from publications such as The New York Times, Seattle Times, The Toronto Star, The Boston Globe and more. Edugyan’s 2011 novel Half-Blood Blues previously won the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award, the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize, the Man Booker Prize, and the Orange Prize.
Released by HarperCollins Canada’s Patrick Crean Editions on September 4th, 2018, editor Patrick Crean stated of the nomination, “we are absolutely thrilled for Esi. The 2018 Scotiabank Giller Prize winner will be announced on November 19, 2018 at a gala ceremony. The event will air live on CBC, available simultaneously via email press release, CNW, Scotiabank Giller Prize website and related social media channels.
The Victoria, B.C., based Edugyan is currently embarking on a multi-city international tour in support of the novel.
