HUMBLE THE POET’S THINGS NO ONE ELSE CAN TEACH US ACQUIRED BY HARPERCOLLINS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Toronto; February 20, 2019)
Humble the Poet, a.k.a. Kanwer Singh—the internationally acclaimed Canadian rapper, poet, and spoken word artist—will be publishing his second book, Things No One Else Can Teach Us, with HarperCollinsCanada in fall 2019. Humble said of the acquisition, “The process of writing Things No One Else Can Teach Us has been the most uncomfortable, challenging, yet most rewarding experience I’ve had as a writer, and I’m so grateful to the amazing people at HarperCollinsCanada for helping me bring this vision and these words to life. I’m very excited to share this book with the world.”
In the follow-up to his bestselling debut, Unlearn, Humble once again flips the conventional script for happiness and success, showing us how our hardest moments can become our greatest teachers. Using raw, honest stories from his own life, he reveals how, with a change in mindset, we can stop seeing the negative and instead see the magic—our ability to create silver linings in our lives—priming us to better handle future challenges.
As simple as it is eye-opening, Things No One Else Can Teach Us reminds us all that we have a magic within us, one that can transform the way we respond to everyday challenges, empowering us to ultimately become our best selves.
“We have long admired Kanwer’s fresh voice and unique perspective–his insight and candour are just what we crave in chaotic times. We are so thrilled to welcome him to the HarperCollins list and look forward to a long publishing collaboration with him,” said acquiring executive editor, Kate Cassaday.
The book deal was brokered by Marc Gerald and Jaime Chu at Europa Content.
