HARPERCOLLINSCANADA LAUNCHES HARPERPRESENTS…FROM HOME
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Toronto; 5/8/2020)
HarperCollinsCanada is thrilled to launch HarperPresents…From Home, a three-fold strategy to further support our authors and Canadian booksellers. We at HarperCollinsCanada understand the importance of supporting Canadian booksellers—now more than ever. HarperPresents…From Home will allow us to offer a digital venue for authors and independent bookstores to host events. We will also populate listings on our website for all of our author events, as well as offer an interactive independent bookstore map, so readers can find the closest store in their communities and buy books from their favourite local retailer.
More about each of these offerings below:
- • Virtual hosting capabilities. For any bookstore that has lost the ability to offer either a physical venue space or a virtual event space, HarperCollins can now extend that digital capability to authors and bookstores alike. As many booksellers may not currently be able to organize and execute virtual events, this is our way of giving both authors and bookstores the platform to reach back into their communities.
- • HarperPresents…From Home event listings at harperpresents.ca. A dedicated space on our website for all virtual event listings for our authors. An easy one-stop shop for fans to scroll through and find events of interest to them.
- • Bookstorefinder.ca is our new interactive independent bookstore map. With the site’s easy-to-use functionality, visitors can type in their city or postal code to view their closest independent bookstore. This resource will also include hours of operation, contact information, and COVID-19 response updates where applicable.
Senior Director of Marketing & Publicity, Cory Beatty, said of the initiative, “Authors are at the centre of what we do and booksellers our most valuable partner. It’s vital for us to support each as best we can during this crisis, and our hope is that these tools make it easier for readers to continue finding books while remaining safely at home.”
We will update our map regularly with new stores and other information, including retailer hours, pick-up/delivery details, and any COVID-19-related notices. Our website listings will be updated every Monday.
