HarperCollins Announces a Book by Rob Ford and Doug Ford

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Toronto; September 13, 2016)

HarperCollins Publishers Ltd has acquired rights to Ford Nation: Two Brothers, One Vision—The True
Story of the People’s Mayor
by Rob Ford and Doug Ford.

Long before Rob Ford became a household name as a result of his struggles with substance abuse, he
was an advocate for the citizens of Toronto as a city councillor and then as mayor. During his political
tenure, Rob was steadfast with his message—saving taxpayers money and putting the brakes on “the
gravy train” at city hall.

Despite his near constant presence in the media, Rob Ford was rarely depicted as the faithful public
servant and devoted husband, father and brother who put the people of his city above all else. In Ford
Nation
, Doug Ford, Rob’s brother and most trusted advisor, shares the true story of the two brothers
and the Ford family. In their own voices, Rob and Doug recount their family’s struggles and triumphs,
beginning with the marriage of their parents, who worked tirelessly to get their company, Deco Labels
and Tags, off the ground; to Doug Sr.’s entry into provincial politics; to the thousands of doors Rob and
Doug knocked on when campaigning in Etobicoke; to Rob’s time in the mayor’s office.

After being diagnosed with cancer, Rob was forced to end his campaign for a second term as mayor of
Toronto, and Doug jumped into the race without hesitation, nearly causing an upset despite his late
entry. Now, as always, Doug remains Rob’s biggest supporter. “I can’t wait to introduce the brother I
knew and loved to the world. Rob was so much more than just a headline,” says Doug Ford. “A great
father and coach. And a tireless leader who, until his dying day, never stopped fighting for the little guy.”

“Following his death on March 22, 2016, it became apparent just how many lives Rob Ford had touched.
The outpouring of support, when people lined up for hours at city hall to pay their respects to a man
they admired, was touching and illuminating,” says Jim Gifford, Editorial Director, Non-fiction, of
HarperCollins Publishers. “Unfortunately Rob became gravely ill while we were working on the book,
and he insisted we finish what we started, drawing on a number of sources. We are looking forward to
bringing this remarkable story to the legions of Ford supporters.”

Ford Nation: Two Brothers, One Vision—The True Story of the People’s Mayor will be published on
November 22, 2016.
