SUMMER BRENNAN is an award-winning investigative journalist and author based in Brooklyn. She is the author of The Oyster War: The True Story of a Small Farm, Big Politics, and the Future of Wilderness in America and High Heel, a critical meditation on choice, consent, feminism and femininity published by Bloomsbury as part of its Object Lessons series. She has written for New York Magazine, Scientific American, Longreads, Pacific Standard, McSweeneys, The Millions, The Rumpus, and The San Francisco Chronicle, among others, and is a contributing writer for Literary Hub. She was also a longtime communications consultant at the United Nations.
