Biography
Phyllis Theroux has written about children, her own included, for as long as she has been a writer. But this is the first time she has written for children. "That," she says, "is much more difficult." Then she stumbled upon the heroine of Serefina Under the Circumstances. "Serefina is a little girl with a big imagination and a big vocabulary. All I had to do was follow behind her and see what she would do next." Phyllis Theroux's essays have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Parents Magazine, where she was a columnist. The author of Night Lights: Bedtime Stories for Parents In the Dark, she lives in Ashland, Virginia.
