Biography

Martha Freeman grew up near Los Angeles and lived for sixteen years in Sonora, a small town in California's Gold Country. As a newspaper reporter there, she liked helicopter rides and fire engines and disliked planning commission meetings. In 1995 she drove her three children and large furry dog cross-country to join her husband in Pennsylvania, where he is now a professor at Penn State.

Martha is the author of several engaging middle-grade novels. The Spy Wore Shades is her first for HarperCollins.
