Charly Cox

Charly Cox is a 22-year-old writer, producer, poet and fool. Her writing focuses on destigmatizing mental health and the coming-of-age of a young woman surviving the modern world. Her blog – which she ran for 6 years – amassed over 1.4 million views in its time, talking honestly and openly about her own struggles and advising young girls on how to seek help and perform self-love. She previously produced YouTube channels for Russell Brand and JacksGap and developed a digital strategy with Richard Curtis for his UN initiative, Global Goals. In January, she wrote a poem a day, showing her internet followers her poetry for the first time; in February, she was asked to be Virgin Radio’s poet in residence to write and perform personalised Valentine’s Day poems for listeners live on air; in March her poem Tell Me Sir was published on Refinery29 to commemorate the day women marched around the world as the man who grabs women ‘by the pussy’ took his seat in the White House; in April, she featured in Sunday Times STYLE; and in July she hosted a poetry night at The Distillery entitled ‘She Must Be Mad’ to raise awareness in aid of mental health and donated all proceeds to MQ Mental Health. An Instapoet who’s grown an audience of 30k posting her hand-written poetry, SHE MUST BE MAD will be Charly’s first book.
