1998:
Won a University of Cambridge press fellowship offering “journalists of high ability and promise a unique opportunity to reflect and study for twelve weeks in one of the world’s great universities.”

1992-97:
Won the Calgary Freedom of Expression Award; the Wilfred Eggleston Award for best non-fiction book for Canada’s Undeclared War: Fighting Words From the Literary Trenches; and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
